RB Leizpig drops points at Bundesliga restart

Every football fan was waiting for football to return. The German Bundesliga is the first big league where football is back. Big teams like RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund all played their first match since the corona outbreak. Sky Deutschland had a record viewership for the return of Bundesliga football. 5 million people watched the return of football on the German Sky broadcaster. 600K people in the UK tuned in on BT Sports to watched Borussia Dortmund in die Kohlenpott derby against Schalke. In this article I talk about the most important moments of this Bundesliga comeback.

RB Leipzig drops points

The biggest shock of this Bundesliga weekend is the draw of RB Leipzig at home against SC Freiburg. This means the third consecutive draw for the Die Roten Bullen. SC Freiburg opened the score late in the first half and the home team had loads of trouble to get one back. Danish attacker Yussuf Poulsen is the player responsible for the 1-1 and therefore a point for his team. A late goal by SC Freiburg was cancelled because of offside.

Borussia Dortmund continues where the left off

Dortmund won their last four Bundesliga matches before the Corona outbreak. They showed the virus doesn’t stop them. Where Schalke04 was the better team in the beginning of the match, Erling Haaland opened the score in the 29th minute. From this moment on Dortmund dominated the entire game and ran away from their opponents. Goals by Guerrero (2) and Hazard lifted the score to 4-0 for the home team.

Bayern Munich stays four points clear on top

The Rekordmeister had a tough match away at Union Berlin. They needed a penalty to open the score at the end the first half. A late header by Pavard settled the deal for Bayern Munich. With a 0-2 victory, they remain at the top of the table with a 4 points lead over Borussia Dortmund. Bayern still need to go to Dortmund to face their main rivals, so things can be very exciting until the very end of this season.
