Let’s be real with each other, did anyone expected the performances we’re seeing from Mohamed Salah at this moment. He’s scoring goals for fun, is crowned Premier League POTY and leads his team through the Champions League. In this post we take a look at his performance at the last three teams he played for.
At Chelsea
Salah came to Chelsea in the winter of the 2013-2014 season. Mourinho at that time and he was obviously not really impressed by the Egyptian. After 1,5 season at Stamford Bridge, he played only 19 matches in which he scored 2 goals.
At As Roma
After a half season on loan for Fiorentina and a complete season on loan for As Roma, he moved permanently to Rome. At Roma they did had faith in Salah and he started playing week in, week out. In two seasons he played a total of 83 matches and scored 34 goals. This was a signal for Liverpool he was ready to play in the Premier League again.
Mohamed Salah at Liverpool
This is where we finally got to see the real Mohamed Salah. In Roma he played on the wing with Edin Dzeko as a striker next to him. At Liverpool he plays next to Roberto Firmino, which is obviously a different striker compared to Dzeko. Salah really connects with Firmino and Sadio Mane on the other side. This trio and the style of play brings the best out of Salah. At this moment in time he already scored 31 goals in 33 Premier League matches. His metamorphosis in the Champions League is even more impressive. He scored once in 9 Champions League matches for As Roma. The two goals in the first leg in the CL semi-final against As Roma, put his total for Liverpool at 11 in 13 matches. It’s such a joy to watch him play, I can’t think of 3 other players in the world who give me so much joy in this moment of time. I would like to nominate him for the Ballon D’or.

[…] like Barcelona, so my preference is for Messi, although I think Mohamed Salah has the best season of all players. Nevertheless I think we should stop comparing these players. […]
