Manchester City wins the 2017-2018 Premier League

The moment everybody knew was coming was finally there. The timing was a little bit unexpected, but after Man United lost at home against West Bromwich Albion they can’t get to their neighbours anymore. Manchester City wins the 2017-2018 Premier League. As a true football fan I’m really happy with this result. The Premier League is won by the team that played the best football. In contrast to recent years, Man City is a champion that was a joy to watch during this season.

Pep Guardiola deserves a lot of credits for this season. He couldn’t live up to the high expectations during his first season, but he did what you can expect from such a world class manager. He used his first season to analyse his team. In the summer after his first season, he strengthened his team on the places where they were the weakest. I remember watching the pre-season match between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. That was the moment I realised they were the top candidate to win the title this year. This team is good in all aspects of football. Even though they had a horrible weak after the CL elimination and losing against Man United, they are the deserved champions and I’m really curious to see what they can do next season. The only downside for Man City is probably that they don’t have a serious contender for the Premier League top scorer trophy.

Manchester United failed (deliberately?)

Man United played a home match against the team at the bottom of the table. This should have been an easy victory for the Mancunians. Especially after the comeback at the Etihad, you can expect Man United to beat West Brom at home. But from the start of this match there was nothing pointing towards a good result for the home team. I can’t help thinking they didn’t really mind losing this match. After ruining their rivals party last week, this made it probably even worse. Man City wins the 2017-2018 Premier League without playing a match. This makes the party in the blue part of Manchester maybe a little bit less excited.
