Manchester City title race run-in | 8 matches to go

The season is heading towards the latter stages with just 8 more game weeks to go. This is the time where the silverware is getting divided. That’s why I would like to take a look at the 2018-2019 Premier League title race run-in. In this post I start with the Manchester City title race run-in. Tomorrow I will discuss the run-in for the only other competitor in the title race.

Manchester City title race run-in

Fulham (away)

The next match for Manchester City is away against Fulham. The club from London is last but one on the table and shouldn’t be a problem for the table leaders. Fulham played ten matches in 2019 and only managed to win one, they last the other nine. It would be the ultimate shock if Man City drops points in this match.

Cardiff City (Home)

This is another match that shouldn’t be a problem for the Citizens. Cardiff City is fighting against relegation, but Manchester City has too much quality to not win this match.

Crystal Palace (Away)

Crystal Palace away is a tricky fixtures in the Manchester City title race run-in. The Eagles managed to beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season and they will do everything they can to get another result in this match. Man City is warned by the result of the home match and will be on their toes to add another three points to their tally in this match.

Tottenham Hotspur (Home)

Tottenham Hotspur isn’t in the best form of their season at the moment. They haven’t won in any of their last four Premier League matches. They really need to improve their form in the next couple of weeks to stand any chance against the defending champions. Man City won the away match at Wembley with 0-1 and will be happy to get the same result from this match.

Manchester United (Away)

To me this is the most important match for Man City in their title race. Last season it was Man United who managed to beat Man City at the Etihad in an attempt to stop them from winning the title. City won it in the end, but Man United would love to keep the three points at Old Trafford in this match. I honestly believe that this match is vital in the title race for Man City. If they manage to be on top of the table after this match, I don’t see them slipping up anymore.

Burnley (Away)

Burnley proved to be a tough side this season, but they also lost with big numbers against Liverpool last week. The next couple of matches will be decisive for this match. If Burnley manages to get away from the relegation zone in the next couple of matches, this will be an easy win for Man City. When Burnley is fighting for survival, they will give Man City a run for their money in this match.

Leicester City (Home)

Leicester City at home is not going to be a problem for Manchester City. The Foxes aren’t that strong this season, but they are safe for relegation and have nothing to play for in this match. Therefore I think Man City will have no problem at all in this match.

Brighton & Hove Albion (Away)

When the title race goes all the way to the end, I don’t see any problems in this match. Manchester City is such a quality team, that they should be able to beat Brighton & Hove Albion when the title’s at stake.
