AS Roma plays the first Champions League semi-final of this season away against Liverpool. On the day before this important football battle, they showed the beautiful side of this sport. As Roma’s squad went to the Hillsborough memorial to show their respect to all the victims from this tragedy. AS Roma captain Daniele de Rossi laid a wreath on behalf of the AS Roma squad in remembrance of the 96 fans who lost their lives in 1989. Which they showed on their Twitter account.

AS Roma versus Liverpool
Tonight’s match is going to be a real football fight for sure. Italians are true killers on the pitch and will do everything they can to win this match. It makes this gesture even more special for me. They didn’t need to do this, but the club As Roma decided they wanted to make this gesture. This is true sportsmanship in my eyes.
Hillsborough disaster
Last week it was 29 years ago that 96 fans lost their lives at Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield. It was at the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forrest. So many lives lost in a football match, is still one of the biggest tragedies in the world of football. It will always be a part of Liverpool Fc’s history. I really like the fact that As Roma shows their respect for the victims. Let’s hope we will never see such a big tragedy anymore.
The Liverpool fans were very aggressive towards Man City in the quarter finals of this tournament. I hope they’ve seen this gesture and will act differently before and during tonight’s match. We need to focus on watching a great football match which needs to be decided on the pitch.
