Ajax healthiest club in the whole of Europe

Many people are shocked about the results Ajax is getting in their UEFA Champions League group stage. The Dutch team was the best of Europe in the past (1995 for the last time), but things went from bad to worse ever since. European top clubs are getting richer and richer, which increased the gap between Ajax and the top. An occasional success, like reaching the Europe League final, never hide the problems they had in Amsterdam. An all time low was at the beginning of last season, when the club failed to qualify for European football.

Ajax is healthy again

It’s only eight years ago when the club from the Dutch capital was a financial mess. They spent a lot of money on some big transfers and wages, but they never got the return you can get at this¬†newzealand online casino. The lack of trophies and good results in Europe, brought the club in severe financial problems. A loss of more than 20 million Pounds was a turning points for Ajax. They needed to economize and they did. After bringing the club to a break-even situation in 2011, they won four Dutch league titles in a row. They meant four years of Champions League football, which is a huge financial boost for any Dutch team. To get the team in a better place, they decided to limit the transfer budget int he summer of 2012. Four years in a row Ajax spent less than 10 million on new players.

Transfer dealings

While Ajax didn’t spent much money those years, the revenue from transfer got bigger and bigger. Their top three transfers in those years earned them a combined about of more than 100 GBP. All this money went to the financial reserves of the club, making them the most healthy team in Europe with a financial reserve of around 200 million GBP. In the summer of this year, Marc Overmars decided to invest big time in his squad, knowing these investments could make them even more money. Players like Tadic and Blind helped Ajax reaching the Champions League group stage. An achievement that earned back their transfer fees already. Now, with their current squad things are looking very good for the Dutch side. Ajax has some potential world class players with the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. These players will be sold in the near future for dazzling amounts of money. So the future looks very bright for Ajax Amsterdam, the healthiest club in Europe.
