Ajax Amsterdam stars

Ajax Amsterdam prepared for busy transfer window

Ajax Amsterdam is a selling club for years now. They’ve got one of the best youth academies in the world, but the Dutch league is just not big enough for players to spent their entire career in Amsterdam. The club reached the Champions League semi-finals last season and loads of their players caught the interest of clubs from the big European leagues. The current Covid-19 crisis will have a big influence on the next couple of transfer windows. Nevertheless it’s expected to be a busy summer for Ajax’ technical director Marc Overmars.

Ajax Amsterdam’s hottest transfer targets

As an Ajax fan for life it’s not a summer I’m looking forward to. But in this article I will discuss the hottest transfer targets of Ajax’ current squad.

Andre Onana

The Ajax goalkeeper shows week in week out that he belongs to the best goalkeepers in the world. He’s not on the level of Alisson Becker, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Jan Oblak, but he won’t be much worse than many other goalkeeper. Barcelona is linked to him and also Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have him on their radar. If he moves on, I would love to see him play regular football in the Premier League.

Donny van der Beek

For a while it looked to be a done deal for Van der Beek to move to Real Madrid. Covid-19 might have changed things. Every club will struggle to get their finances in the right places. Lot’s of talks are about trade deals, because teams won’t have the money to spent millions on transfer fees. I don’t see much Real Madrid players who are willing to play for Ajax who can actually improve the Amsterdam team. If Real Madrid isn’t able to complete the Van der Beek deal, teams like Man United and Spurs would be very interested to get him to the Premier League.

Nicolas Tagliafico

The Argentinian left fullback is one of the most experience players in the current Ajax team. At the same time he’s my favourite player. He’s really what we need at Ajax, a true warrior. In a recent interview he said Ajax is an amazing club, but the Dutch Eredivisie isn’t the best league. Therefore he would like to move on and see what he can do in a top league. I really believe this guy deserves a spot in a world class team.
