The big leagues in Europe all have one or two serious title contenders. We all know Bayern Munich will wins the Bundesliga year after year, Juventus is the biggest candidate in Italy, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are the contenders in Spain and PSG is by far the best team in France. Things are different in the Premier League. If you ask people at the start of the season which team will become champions, there are most likely 6 teams that share the first place on this list. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur start every season with the title as their main target. With so many title contenders, there is almost every week a big match scheduled.
- Relegation battle
The relegation battle in the Premier League is just as exciting as the title race. There are a lot of teams fighting against relegation. If we look at the 2017-2018 season, we had 10 teams that mathematically could still relegate with only 3 matches remaining. Can you find another league 6 teams play for the title and 10 teams fight against relegation? It’s very important to maintain a Premier League status, because it’s hard to regain it when your down. Sunderland is the perfect example, they dropped back to the Championship last season and finishing last in the Championship this season. That’s why the Premier League status is vital for every team in the Premier League.

For me this is the best footballing day of the year. Nothing beats watching a whole lot of football on Boxing Day. After all the eating and drinking on the first day of Christmas, I love to spent my Boxing Day on the couch watching the Premier League. On a good Boxing Day, you start with the early match and have seen at least three matches when the day is over. All the matches are new-years eve are also perfect. The other leagues in Europe are on a winter break around that time, so you can really focus on the Premier League these days.
