The 2018-2019 Premier League season is headings towards the end like a train on full speed. The best thing about this season is that almost every team still has something to play. I can’t remember when a season was this exciting until the very end of the season. In this post I will discuss all the battles that are still wide open at the moment. At the start of this season I used the pointsbet promo code to bet on Liverpool winning the league. So you can imagine it’s going to be a very exciting end of this season for me.
2018-2019 Premier League
Title race
The biggest and most exciting is of course the title race between Liverpool and Manchester City. The Scousers and Cityzens are taking the first place of each other for a while now. Liverpool is currently the table leader with 82 points out 33 matches. Manchester City is on 80 points out 32 matches. So Man City is currently in the best position to retain their title, but they’ve got a harder schedule for the remainder of this season. Liverpool’s upcoming match, at home against Chelsea, is their toughest remaining match. They play against 3 teams from the last 6 on the table, and Wolverhampton Wanderers to finish their season. Manchester City plays at home against the Spurs and away against Manchester United. All by all the title race is wide open and it wouldn’t surprise me if it will be decided on the very last day of this season.
Top 4
In the shadow of the title race, four teams are fighting to get into the top 4 and earn a Champions League ticket. Chelsea is currently in 3rd spot with 64 points, followed by Spurs (64), Arsenal (63) and Manchester United (61). All four teams have a clear chance of finishing in the top 4, so two of them will be disappointed at the end of the season. The entire top 4 will qualify for the 2019-2020 Champions League, unless the two teams that finish outside the top 4 will win the Champions League and Europa League.
Relegation battle
Two teams are already down to the Championship. Both Fulham and Huddersfield Town appeared to be not good enough for the top flight of English football. Cardiff City is currently 18th on the table, but the likes of Burnley, Newcastle United, Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion are all still in danger in this 2018-2019 Premier League season.
