2017-2018 Premier League POTY

The nominations for the 2017-2018 Premier League POTY are announced by the Professional Footballers’ Association. 6 Premier League players are nominated for this award. At the same time 6 players are nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award. In this post we’ll discuss the nominees for both awards.

2017-2018 Premier League POTY

The nominees for this award are Harry Kane, David Silva, Leroy Sane, David de Gea, Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah. All six of them had an outstanding season, but I don’t think all six were equally consistent. David Silva missed some matches due to sad circumstances in his private life. Harry Kane scores a lot of goals, but is missing is too much matches this season in my opinion. Leroy Sane alternates very strong matches with weak performances.

The other three players really deserve to form the top three this year. David de Gea is by far the best keeper in the league and maybe in the whole world at this moment. Kevin de Bruyne gives assists like it’s nothing and Salah scores goals for fun. I think it’s a battle between De Bruyne and Salah, hence my post about this battle. During this season I changed my mind on this throphy. In January I was convinced it belongs to De Bruyne, but in the last few months I switched to Salah.

2017-2018 Young Player of the Year award

This award will be for either Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, Ederson, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Ryan Sessegnon. This is a more open race for me. With three nominees, the chance is big that it goes to Manchester City, but I haven’t seen Sessegnon playing so I can’t give my opinion on his performances. I think it will go between Sane and Ederson, but I won’t put my money on it.

Let me know in the comments which two players deserve to win these awards?
